Three projects. One portfolio you own.

Every graded project in this course, with the brief and the marking rubric attached. Nothing here is a surprise in week fourteen. Read the brief before you start and again before you publish.

Every piece here gets published. This is not a class where your work disappears into a professor's inbox. The brief tells you the standard; the workbook is where you build the thing; the LMS is where you submit it. Use all three.

Where your grade comes from

Three graded projects plus participation. The Blog is the spine of the course and carries the most weight, and it runs from Week 2 to Week 15 alongside everything else. Grading is un-curved.

The Blog · 40% Podcast · 25% Short Form Video · 25% Participation & Attendance · 10%
Prose 40% · Weeks 2–15

The Blog

Design and maintain a professional WordPress blog all semester. Nine posts, 470 points, SEO and E-A-T, and original infographics and memes as blog skills.

The core of the course · Largest single project

Podcasts 25% · Weeks 7–9

The Podcast

Conceptualize, produce and publish an 8+ minute episode with a partner — audio production, interviewing, show notes, and distribution on your blog and a podcast platform.

Pairs · Show notes are written work

Pixels 25% · Weeks 10–15

Short Form Video Series

A series of three videos, one to four minutes each — the first two vertical, the last horizontal. Strong hooks, captions, published to a platform and embedded in a blog post.

Individual · The capstone

The rest of the course

Everything else you need this semester.

Set up · Week 2

Start on WordPress.com

The hosted route. Thirty four steps from nothing to a live blog, with a screenshot at every step.

Free plan works, paid plan recommended

Set up · Week 2

Self hosted WordPress

The self hosted route in twenty five steps, plus how to move your posts across if you start on .com and switch later.

For students who want their own host

Write it · Week 2

Blog #1, written live

Twenty nine steps on a real blog. The weak first draft, every fix, three images with alt text, and the five settings that carry the marks.

Open this while you write. Do not read it first and hope you remember.

The standard · Week 2

Blog #1, the finished example

The same post, finished and published, on desktop and on a phone. This is what full marks looks like before you start guessing.

Read it once before you draft, then again after your first draft.

The blog brief

All Nine Blog Posts

Every one of the nine posts, with the full brief, what it is marked on, and a direct link to submit. This is the page to keep open all semester.
