Search-Intent Quadrant

Sort keywords by what searchers actually want — know, do, go, buy — so your content matches their intent. Free, no signup.

A keyword is a question in disguise, and the same word can hide four different questions. The Search-Intent Quadrant sorts keywords by what the searcher actually wants: know, go, do, or buy. The sort matters because content that answers the wrong intent does not rank, no matter how good it is; an informational article will not rank for a transactional query, and a product page will not rank for a question. Feed the tool your keyword list and it forces the intent call for each one, which tells you what kind of page each keyword deserves. It is the fastest fix I know for content that is well written and invisible.

Frequently asked questions

What are the four search intents?

Know is informational, go is navigational, do is an action the searcher wants to take, and buy is transactional. Google infers intent from behaviour at scale, then ranks pages that match it.

How can I tell a keyword’s intent?

Search it and read the results Google already rewards. If page one is guides, the intent is know. If it is product pages, the intent is buy. The SERP is the answer key.

What do I do with mixed-intent keywords?

Either split them into separate pages per intent or match the dominant intent shown on page one. Trying to serve two intents on one page usually ranks for neither.
