The Classroom

Teaching is where the thinking gets stress-tested. This page collects the courses I run at Hanyang, the frameworks I have built across 18 years of instruction, and the materials I make available beyond the classroom.

Course Descriptions

Multimedia Marketing & Content DesignStrategy Track
Strategy before aesthetics. Audience before execution.

A team-based campaign course built around a real client and a real brief. Students move from strategy through execution: audience research, messaging architecture, content design, platform selection, and a final pitch. Every creative decision has to be explained, not just shown. Students leave with a portfolio-ready campaign and the vocabulary to talk about it professionally.

Writing clearly is a competitive advantage most students do not know they lack.

This course develops writing precision alongside multimedia communication skills: structuring an argument, designing information for an audience, and integrating visual and written elements coherently. Students write, revise, and present. The multimedia component is not decoration. It is a different discipline requiring the same strategic thinking as the prose.

Who you are professionally should be a decision, not an accident.

This course empowers students to develop authentic professional identities grounded in personal values and career aspirations. Rather than teaching platform-specific tactics, the emphasis is on making thoughtful, informed decisions about professional presence across contexts. By integrating storytelling, narrative-building, and self-awareness tools, students develop the skills to effectively communicate their professional identity with credibility, emotional resonance, and logical clarity. Designed for HIWS international students. All work emphasizes privacy protection โ€” no public posting required.

Are you ready to become the most influential voice in the room?

In a hyper-competitive professional world, your ability to communicate can make or break your career. This is not just about speaking clearly. It is about commanding attention, inspiring action, and driving results. Students work through two modules: Job Search Mastery โ€” personal narratives, resumes, cover letters, and formal interviews โ€” and Advanced Persuasive Speaking, covering elevator pitches, business proposals, and high-stakes presentations. Every session produces something usable. Students leave with a complete professional communication portfolio and the confidence to use it.

Communication is the strategy. This course makes that concrete.

Students work through a career communication arc covering job interviews, digital professional presence, resume and cover letter writing, and negotiation โ€” with cross-cultural competency woven throughout. The Seoul context matters: students prepare to operate in global environments where assumptions about directness, hierarchy, and relationship-building vary significantly. Every session produces something usable.

Five analytical lenses. Thirteen weeks. No easy verdicts.

This course refuses to take the easy side. Students work through five core frameworks applied to real technologies and real consequences: Governance Lag, Tradeoffs, Power and Autonomy, Escalation, and Incentives. The course moves through three acts: establishing the analytical lens, applying it to AI’s most contested spaces, and building defensible positions on emerging issues. Most communication courses teach you how to say things. This one teaches you whether things should be said at all.
